Hidden in Plain Sight is designed to increase awareness and equip parents, caregivers, and community members with the knowledge and tools needed to prevent youth substance use. The presentation begins with preparing for meaningful conversations using the Talk. They Hear You. SAMHSA framework, helping families confidently turn everyday moments into prevention opportunities.

Participants learn essential drug facts and consequences, followed by an in-depth look at today’s substance landscape—nicotine, inhalants, kratom, THC products, medical marijuana, Delta-8, and more. We explore how drugs and paraphernalia can be hidden in plain sight, including evolving slang, emojis, accessories, and social media influences, along with recognizing warning signs of substance use.

The presentation concludes with practical steps for taking action, finding help and support, and connecting families to trusted local, state, and national resources. Through awareness, education, and early intervention, we empower families and communities to protect youth and promote healthy, informed decision-making.
