Kidfest and
the Too Good for Drugs Walk
The walk and overall event provides an opportunity for schools,
individuals, and communities to participate in a forum to make a
statement on the importance of being drug free.
This event is the largest in the state and has recently moved from
Lowry Park to larger facilities at MOSI. We host 23 agencies that
provide prevention exhibits and messages for families. Last year’s
event hosted well over 8,000 families.
The banner contest draws entries from over 79 elementary, middle
school, high school, and community agencies. Not only do students
participate in the banner contest, but it starts a dialogue about
drugs and the devastating effect of using alcohol and other
substances.
The HCADA has organized this event since its inception.
Hillsborough County, the Mendez Foundation, and the City of Tampa
are the sponsoring partners. This event is held the first week in
October to kick off the national drug awareness Red Ribbon Month.
